6. Tragic True Love
On Veronica Mars: Prior to the series premiere and before Veronica's epic love story with her obligatory psychotic jack*ss, the romantic male lead was dreamboat Duncan Kane. The brother of her deceased best friend, Veronica and Duncan were the perfect couple...until he abruptly broke up with her. As Veronica would later learn, Duncan had been led to erroneously believe that an affair between his father and her mother had produced lovebirds Veronica and Duncan as unwitting half siblings. The dynamic was made even more dysfunctional when a drugged Duncan - still believing Veronica to be his sister - slept with a drugged Veronica. The upside? They weren't actually siblings. On iZombie: Prior to the series premiere, Liv was an enjoying a modern fairytale romance with fiancé Major Lilywhite. A college football player who became a social worker, Major supported Liv in every area of her life...including socializing with coworkers by attending boat parties. Following the massacre on the lake and Liv's zombification, she was forced to break off their engagement. Kept apart first by their differences in levels of mortality and then by Major's horror that she concealed her identity as a zombie from him, their relationship is as complicated as ever. At least they're not siblings.
