10 Ways The Boys TV Show Is Different From The Comics
8. Madelyn Stillwell And Stan Edgar
The CEO of Vought, Stan Edgar, hired Madelyn Stillwell to serve as the vice-president of hero management, making her responsible for The Seven. Edgar only appeared in one episode in season one, but has become a major adversary for The Boys as well as Homelander in season two.
Mr. Edgar is the CEO of Vought in the comics but he never makes an appearance. In one issue, it's casually mentioned that he passed away and he's rarely mentioned again after that.
Madelyn Stillwell is based on the character James Stillwell; a high-ranking assistant at Vought. He is much more hands-on than his television counterpart since he orchestrates coups, orders the extermination of certain Supes, and commands Stormfront to kill The Boys. He may share the same name as Elisabeth Shue's character but his cold, calculated manner is more in line with Giancarlo Esposito's performance as Stan Edgar.
Gender-swapping Stillwell for the show was a great idea, since it allowed her to use a mother-son relationship with Homelander to keep the superhero in line as she fulfils his desperate need to be loved and understood.
