10 Ways The Boys TV Show Is Different From The Comics

One of the most horrifying moments in The Boys is when Homelander fails to save a hijacked plane from crashing. This incident was taken directly from the comic but there are some big differences.

First off, the plane crash occurred five years ago. Secondly, this wasn't a random flight; it was THE Plane that was meant to crash into the Twin Towers during 9/11. Vought sent The Seven to reclaim control of the plane, believing it would be a masterful PR move.

But when The Supes entered the plane, it depressurised the cabin, causing the passengers to panic. When Homelander screamed for everyone to settle, his superpowered vocal chords caused the passengers' eardrums to explode, killing most of them.

Believing the mission was a lost cause, Homelander abandoned his team, resulting in the death of his teammate, Marathon Man. Queen Maeve became so disillusioned after seeing Homelander's callousness, she became a drunk and sex addict.

Homelander diverted the plane's path so it didn't crash into the Twin Towers but was unable to stop it from colliding into The Brooklyn Bridge, causing thousands of deaths. It was The Seven's gross negligence of this hijacking which encouraged the CIA agent, Mallory, to reform The Boys.
