Of all the ideas on this list, shortening the season length may well be the least likely to actually come to fruition. As long as episodes are being churned out, the show will always hold a decent audience share and make more money for Fox. That is an unfortunate thing really because a lot of shows have proved that a shorter season length can improve the overall quality. A tighter season would ultimately mean more time to produce episodes. That's more time to think about episode ideas, brainstorm in the writer's room and generally make sure that things are getting done right. With 13 episodes instead of 22, the show could pour more energy into ensuring the quality of each episode instead of just churning out some mediocre crap to keep up with the massive episode order. Surely all true fans of the show could agree that a smaller amount of good episodes is more rewarding to watch than a whole bunch of inconsistent and sub-par ones. A shortened season would be of great benefit for the final point in this list...
