10 Weird Early Performances By The Walking Dead Actors
6. Slither (Michael Rooker)
In fact Darabont makes a habit out of using the same actors in things, and half the principal cast of The Walking Dead had appeared in his most recent Stephen King adaptation, The Mist. Michael Rooker, meanwhile, was a totally new addition to the Darabont stable of actors, but another one versed in B-cinema. Whilst he's played plenty of intense straight roles most notably in Henry: Portrait Of A Serial Killer, where he's suitably intense in the title part Rooker is probably best known for when his inherent toughness is subverted in some way, as per his appearance in Kevin Smith's Mallrats as a disapproving father. Much, much weirder, however, is Slither. Rooker is the antagonist in this riff on fifties sci-fi films that's way more successful than The Blob, as a small-town man who slowly succumbs to possession by alien slug monsters. Oh an that film's directed by James Gunn, who's most recent work was blockbuster Guardians Of The Galaxy.
