10 Weirdest Adverts Featuring Star Trek Actors

3. Hallmark - Leonard Nimoy

This ad for Hallmark from 1992 was a sweet nod to the Original Series, featuring Leonard Nimoy. For many years, Hallmark has produced Star Trek themed Christmas Tree ornaments, with the Shuttlecraft Gallileo from the Original Series episode The Gallileo Seven on offer.

The shop assistant plays into Nimoy's role as Spock, bidding him to Live Long and Prosper before he leaves. He jokingly brushes off the greeting. Nimoy would in fact publish an autobiography three years later entitled I Am Spock.

The title was a play on his earlier 1975 autobiography I Am Not Spock, as he was attempting to break away from the Vulcan image at the time. However, in this advert he throws himself fully into the fandom, even lending his voice to the collectable. The ornament lit up and featured a Christmas greeting from Mr Spock himself recorded inside, which made it a must-have item for collectors.

Many more ornaments would come after this one but this slice of Original Series nostalgia manages to stand-out like a pointed ear.
