10 Weirdest Decisions In Star Trek History
2. Neelix Leaving Voyager
After Neelix lost his family during the war between the Talaxians and the Haakonians he spent a long time hopping from job to job struggling to find a new purpose in life before eventually being found by Voyager in the pilot episode Caretaker and taken aboard to serve as their Delta Quadrant expert and chef.
Neelix stayed aboard the ship for nearly their entire journey through the quadrant, but eventually left in the episode Homestead when, against all odds, a Talaxian colony was found thousands of lightyears from their homeworld. Neelix fell in love with a Talaxian woman from the colony named Dexa, and almost immediately decided to stay with her and her son Brax.
Neelix deciding to leave the ship after all that they had been through together was slightly disheartening. Over the years he formed really strong relationships with a lot of the members of Voyager's crew, specifically Tuvok and Samantha and Naomi Wildman, and it seemed really out of character for him to just leave them all behind just to live with some Talaxians who he barely knew.
