Sex is a minor but important part of Battlestar Galactica. Like most mature dramas, Battlestar Galactica has its moments of steamy under-the-cover scenes between many of its characters.

This not only gave the show a bit of spice like any modern TV series, it also sparked a completely out there fan theory regarding the creations of the human Cylons.

This theory proposes that Cylons are actually more like Stargate's Goa'uld, a parasite that infects human hosts and converts them into Cylons. The theory then pivots toward the final five Cylons and how they could actually have been turned into Cylons during any of their sexual encounters with other Cylons.

In fairness to the theory, there is some merit as all but Samuel Anders do have sex with other Cylon models. That means they could possibly have been infected with some sort of Cylon parasite that took over their body.

Realistically this theory makes the least sense, as Gaius never becomes a Cylon despite his time with Caprica Six, and the same can be said for Starbuck, though it's hard to know if ghosts can be infected by robots. In the end, this theory is more of a homage to the first Star Trek series, where the crew is infected with a disease every other week than anything we can directly explain in the Battlestar Galactica universe.
