10 Worst Admirals In Star Trek

3. Marcus - Star Trek Into Darkness

Admiral Marcus, coming from the Kelvin-universe as he did, was about as subtle as a brick to the face when it came to his plans for Starfleet. It's one thing to develop a secret starship in a hidden spacedock. It's quite another thing to leave a massive model of that ship on your desk for all to see.

Marcus was a war-monger, pure and simple. He was convinced that, given enough time, the Klingon Empire would choose to go on the offensive. This, he felt, would lead to a devastating loss of life for Starfleet. Acting of his own accord, he worked with Khan to develop the Vengeance, a starship suffering from a serious case of little-guy syndrome, and a new type of photon torpedo that was loaded aboard the Enterprise.

His plan to have the Enterprise start a war with the Klingons was thwarted, which led to Khan taking control of the enormous vessel, before savagely crushing Marcus's head with his bare hands - all while Carol Marcus watched in horror.

While it might be a bit harsh to say the man got what he deserved, it's fair to say this is not an officer who'll be remembered with honour.
