10 Worst Characters In Game Of Thrones

2. Sand Snakes (And Ellaria)

Game of Thrones The Mountain
HBO

Perhaps the biggest waste of potential on the show in recent years, and certainly one of the most egregious translations from book-to-screen, the Sand Snakes are almost laughably bad on the show.

Hopes were understandably high for meeting the bastard children of Prince Oberyn Martell - one of the coolest characters to ever appear on the show - especially given they were also pretty interesting in the books.

Instead of highly-skilled, strong, dangerous women with revenge on their minds, what we're given are thinly drawn outlines of those characters. It doesn't help that they're given horrendous dialogue and even worse action scenes (their fight with Jaime and Bronn ranks as arguably the worst the show has ever produced).

Ellaria doesn't fare much better either. There was some interest to her in Season 4, but it gradually waned as we spent more time in Dorne. What could've been an empowering storyline instead became Ellaria just looking pissed off, then she and the Sand Snakes disappeared for a season, so that even their big moment - killing Doran, Trystane, and Myrcella - carried little weight.
