10 Worst Doctor Who Episodes According To YOU
8. Nightmare In Silver
It’s rumoured that the original Nightmare in Silver script handed in by Neil Gaiman was heavily doctored by The Moff’s grubby mitts. And when we say ‘grubby’, we mean it quite literally, given the notoriously creepy "skirt just a little too tight" line that always brings the cringe on a rewatch.
On the plus side, there are some strong character moments, a really unique (if underutilised) theme park setting, and the ever-lovable Warwick Davis. Still, Nightmare in Silver is fairly criticised for a number of reasons, and it's not surprising to see it rated as Eleven's second-worst outing.
There's the inclusion of Doctor Who’s most annoying children to date (which, after 50 years, was quite an achievement), and a fundamental misunderstanding of the Cybermen's M.O., and what makes them scary.
Their redesign here makes them feel more like robots than cyborgs, with the human component barely mentioned at all, and a design that’s more reminiscent of a chromed-up Iron Man.
The attempt to make the Cybermen scarier by giving them super speed and the ability to software-patch out a weakness to bullets does the opposite, and we’re glad this rather lame ‘upgrade’ was dropped, even though we were stuck with the Tony Stark Cybermen in Series 8 too.
