10 Worst Episodes Of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
4. The Gang Beats Boggs: Ladies Reboot
Like many other episodes on this list the concept and execution behind this is well thought out and handled nicely. Unfortunately, it merely suffers too much from being a distinct departure from the norm.
The episode has good intentions as it tries to explore the trend of rebooting male-dominated franchises with female actors. This is a concept that has varied in success and seems like the perfect avenue for Always Sunny to explore, but in doing so, it ends up falling into the criticisms that it makes of the concept.
The writers never quite manage to get the sense of satire right. Although they constantly joke about the irrelevancy of trying to copy something that already exists, that is what they end up doing themselves.
Additionally, the absence of the rest of the cast leads to the episode feeling a little hollow, with the main highlight being the appearance of Frank. So again, it feels redundant and too far removed.
Dee is certainly capable of carrying an episode on her own, but this one just seems to be a little too far from what we have come to expect from the quality of the series.
