10 Worst Futurama Episodes
8. That's Lobstertainment
Focussing an episode on Doctor Zoidberg is hardly something fans would scoff at. Although he's only a supporting character, he was still beloved, so seeing him gain the spotlight was a treat - well, most of the time at least.
That's Lobstertainment follows Zoidberg as he attempts to go into stand-up comedy but fails. He gets in contact with his uncle Harold Zoid who used to be a big star in silent movies. Together, they finance a film alongside Calculon and promise him an Oscar. But, after the movie is a disaster, Calculon threatens their lives if they don't get him the award.
The episode focuses heavily on the character of Harold Zoid, but it's tough to sit through him with all of it. The character is so unlikeable that it's difficult to root for him and seeing him manipulate and take advantage of Zoidberg leaves you with a sour taste in your mouth.
Ultimately, the ending of the episode tries to spell a nice story about awards being less important than the respect of your family. Still, it feels entirely forced, as Harold Zoid hasn't garnered any of your pity, and the logical missteps of storming the Oscars and taking over the ceremony were ill-thought out.
