10 Worst Futurama Episodes
5. Yo Leela Leela
It looks like it's a very unfortunate hattrick for Leela centric episodes as we arrive at yet another failed attempt to give the cyclops mutant we all know and love a great outing. She is a great character with solid writing and a memorable persona, but the writers have faltered with her a few more times than fans would like.
Exploring Leela's past as an orphan is often great for her, as it's writhe with emotion and messages about overcoming your hardships. With that being said, this episode doesn't work too hard to do anything different and falls onto this list for playing it so safe that it becomes mundane - despite the bright colours.
This outing follows Leela as she creates a hit children's TV franchise named Rumpledy-Hump, after telling a story to young children at the orphanage where she grew up. Naturally, as fame and acclaim can do, Leela becomes an egomaniac. But, things fall apart after Bender discovers that the show isn't original but rather a carbon copy of planet Leela found.
The Yo Gabba Gabba inspired aesthetics are fun, but the episode revolves entirely around Leela's deception and eventual admission of guilt. Unfortunately, liar revealed stories are so overplayed - even in Futurama itself - that it makes the episode unoriginal and lacking flair.
