10 Worst How I Met Your Mother Episodes

9. The Burning Beekeeper

How I Met Your Mother
CBS

Before the disasterpiece that was Season 9, the season which will make up a good chunk of this list, there was Lily and Marshall’s housewarming party in Season 7.

I’ll be the first to admit that I enjoyed this episode. It had an innovative formula of telling the same story several times in different places in the house, letting the viewer piece together the information as they watch along. However, this by no means indicates that The Burning Beekeeper is a good episode. Similar to the last entry, this episode bends reality a little too much, especially towards the end when the entire house is infested with bees. A maddened beekeeper pumping the house with gas and setting himself on fire, leaving hundreds of bad CGI bees keeping people trapped in the house, would be right at home in the plot of a B-movie horror, not a sitcom.

The change of setting is a shock to the system too. If the audience had gotten to know this house and its various rooms for longer, the episode would’ve felt more engaging and frankly more like How I Met Your Mother, however everyone is too used to Ted’s apartment and MacLaren’s for a new setting to really feel comfortable.
