10 Worst How I Met Your Mother Episodes
2. Bedtime Stories
I like
innovation as much as the next guy. It's extremely refreshing when shows try out new things.
Unfortunately, this particular new thing was unsuccessful.
Trying to lull baby Marvin to sleep, Marshall recounts stories featuring his friends and tells the entire episode in rhyme. It was a cute idea, and if it had only went on for a few minutes people might've loved it, but over 20 minutes of a nursery-rhyme format is simply too much.
It was too different from the regular format. Narrating the entire episode in rhymes was irritating making this not only a bad episode but a difficult one to watch.
This episode’s uniqueness made no sense in relation to the context of what was going on. It was something people would expect to see in the first couple of seasons when the writers are throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks, not halfway through the final season where stakes are supposed to be high. This is a half-hour which I’d majorly advice skipping on re-watches.
