10 Worst Simpsons Episodes From The Best Seasons
8. Burns, Baby Burns - Season 8
Burns, Baby Burns is a fine enough viewing but it certainly is forgettable. Knowing the main plotline is to do with Mr Burns encountering his long lost son Larry, you can already tell the producers were just looking for some type of filler episode to fill in the gaps of the otherwise flawless eighth season.
There's just no point to the storyline. The writers don't quite make a big enough deal about the tender relationship between a father and son, who likely haven't spoken which each other in over thirty years. The pacing is rushed, there's not much interaction between Mr Burns and his son, and by the time they rekindle and resolve their drama, everything is swiftly wrapped up before Larry is never spoken about ever again.
And Larry Burns, whilst entertaining, is hardly an original character - he just seems like an opportunity for comedian Rodney Dangerfield to throw out his best one-liners.
As Homer would say, it's good... but not great.
