10 Worst Simpsons Episodes From The Best Seasons
7. Fear Of Flying - Season 6
This episode probably wouldn’t have made it on the list if it didn’t have such glaring plotholes.
Prior to this, we had seen Marge and the family take a flight during the episode “Mr Lisa Goes To Washington” without any issues. And then all of a sudden, when Homer receives a free flight for the family, she’s got a huge phobia of flying. Cut further on into the series, the family are seen frequently in and out of the country without even a slight hint of nerves on Marge’s behalf. It’s not in the same vein as her gambling addiction, which is often grazed upon throughout the series as part of her character.
There’s also a very personal discovery of Marge’s father’s job, and yet it becomes another aspect which is just swept under the rug after the story is over, without ever being referenced again. It just makes the whole thing seem like a filler episode as well as ignorance on the continuity of the show.
It’s a shame because there are some notable embellishments in Fear of Flying otherwise, such as the mini Cheers crossover and Anne Bancroft’s guest appearance as the therapist.
