An alien leader called Lutan likes the look of lieutenant Tasha Yar and demands that she be his in exchange for a highly sought after vaccine. When they refuse, Lutan kidnaps her to make her his first wife to replace his current wife. Needless to say, wife number one doesn't like that one bit and challenges her to a duel.

Why It Sucks: You'd think a fight to the death between a member of The Enterprise and an alien would have a lot more emotional investment but considering how poorly Tasha Yar war written and acted, it didn't necessarily feel like the stakes were that high. There's also a hilarious moment where Yutan essentially threatens the life of every Enterprise crew member to either do what he says or he'll kill everyone by withholding the vaccine and the crew stand there and applaud him. It feels like an editing mistake but apparently it isn't.

What Doesn't Suck: Although I couldn't care less about the outcome of the fight, the actual fight scene itself is pretty good and has a great score too! It's no Spock vs Kirk from the original series but it's up there.

I see my role at WhatCulture the same way my wife sees my role as a lover: I contribute in a very small way, my presence is barely noticeable and I’m not entirely sure if the laughter is at me or with me.
