10 Worst Things Sterling Archer Has Ever Done
3. Blowing The Cover Of ISIS Agents
For a secret agent, it's fair to say that Sterling Archer isn't too concerned with keeping his identity, cover or job title a secret. When he was a field operative it would normally take less than a minute for him to introduce himself as Sterling Archer "the world's greatest secret agent". His carelessness towards this matter is questioned several times throughout the show, most notably by his personal hero Burt Reynolds.
But realistically, Archer not being concerned with his own safety is ok, if he gets hurt, it's his own fault. But what's not ok is him calling a number of his fellow agents while they are on mission, and subsequently blowing their cover. This act of unbelievable stupidity is shown in the shows third ever episode "Diversity Hire", in which we are shown not one, not two, but three sperate occasions on which Archer has called someone while undercover in the field causing their cover to be blown.
What makes this even worse are the reasons for which Archer calls them. In the first two instances, Archer calls and drunkenly shouts down the phone for agents Ruiz and Pak to tell the women he was chatting up at the time, that they do in fact work for ISIS as secret agents. Obviously this terrible, but it arguably gets even worse when he calls agent Mgumbe to ask if he's going to the "ISIS picnic". In all three cases the agents are killed simply because Sterling couldn't keep his big mouth shut.
