10 Worst TV Shows Of 2016

7. Shadowhunters

Lucifer TV Series
ABC

Back in 2013 there was an adaptation of the first book of The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. That film totally bombed, both critically and financially, the film industry swallowing up another grim attempt at action-adventure fantasy.

But it didn't stay dead for long. Shadowhunters is yet another adaptation of the novel series, which tells the story of Clarly Fray, who learns on her eighteenth birthday she's a Shadowhunter, a human with angelic qualities destined to protect the world from demons. So basically like when Harry Potter finds out he's a wizard except with less chocolate frogs and Butterbeers and more "you now owe humanity your life in the form of gruelling combat with immortal monsters". Fun.

It's impossible to ever really take Shadowhunters seriously. The show is chock full of ridiculousness, with dramatic betrayals and goofy CGI creatures. And even if you do take it seriously, the fact of the matter is that the writing just isn't very good, filled with predictable story arcs and nonsensical character development.
