4. Of Kings And Prophets
You know what everyone loves and that totally don't frequently flop and completely suck? Biblical epics. All right so maybe I'm just bitter because I actually paid money to go see Ridley Scott's Exodus: Gods And Kings, but still. ABC's Of Kings And Prophets is less Ben-Hur (the original, not the remake...sigh) and more The Nativity Story.
The series follows an ensemble of characters including Saul, David, the Kings of Israel, their families and all of their many political rivalries. Hmm, ensemble of characters...successive kings...political rivals...sounds familiar, right? Yes, Of Kings And Prophets is a Game Of Thrones rip-off.
Seriously, it is. It's an attempt at tacking what makes Game Of Thrones special onto the Old Testament, and the result is terrible. Especially when there's a literal Deus Ex Machina waiting in the rafters to fix, change and intervene at any moment. What's the point?
