10 Worst TV Villains Of The Last 10 Years
3. Euron Greyjoy - Game Of Thrones
The roster of monsters on Game Of Thrones takes some beating. From the sheer horror of The Mountain to the complexity of Cersei Lannister, heroes who go to the dark and villains who find redemption, the epic fantasy drama knows its way around evil. They can’t all be winners, though. Case in point: Euron Greyjoy.
The seafaring rogue appears in season six and immediately takes over the Ironborn, possibly the least interesting and least developed group in the show. From there, his character is built through a series of blunt signifiers. He grunts about his lust for the Queen, commits acts of grizzly violence, and plots to murder his nephew and niece lest they challenge him for the throne.
At this point, the last thing Game Of Thrones needed was another story strand, least of all one that involved a gruff character slowly making his way to another location. He was blunted further by having no one of consequence to interact with for the majority of his screen time.
Ultimately he’s yet another false thread in a story rushing to a semi-satisfying finale. The intention was clearly for him to be important, but he’s one of the least memorable pieces of the vast puzzle.
