10 WTF Moments From Japan's Most Insane Reality Show
4. Desperation Sets In
Five kilograms of rice can only last so long, and once it was out, Nasubi was back to square one. Of course that bag of rice wasn't the only edible item Nasubi ever won, but the fact that he had no sort of refrigeration system meant he had to eat anything that would spoil as soon as he got it, or it would be wasted. This lead to some extremely amazing looking meals for Nasubi to partake in, but it didn't last. After his rice was gone he had two options: live hand to mouth, only eating whenever food came to him, or break down and eat the large supply of dog food he had won. It was dog food city for poor Nasubi, who didn't even have any eating utensils to at least pretend he was still a human as he scarfed down bag after bag of puppy chow, using ballpoint pens to eat the wet food he had. He subsisted off of dog food for weeks until he finally received a ten kilogram bag of rice in the mail. After so much begging and pleading to the Gods of luck, Nasubi's prayers were finally answered. He had so much rice he used some to make paste to hang posters up on his walls and he gorged himself on giant rice balls wrapped in some seaweed he had won. It truly was the light at the end of the tunnel for a man who only had water and dog food to keep him from starving.
