10 WTF TV Episodes That Came Totally Out Of Nowhere

3. "Teddy Perkins" - Atlanta

Donald Glover's brilliant dramedy series Atlanta reached its WTF apex in the season two episode "Teddy Perkins," a 34-minute masterpiece of skin-crawling creepiness in which Darius (Lakeith Stanfield) answers an ad to collect an antique piano.

Upon arriving at the lush abode, Darius is met by Teddy Perkins, a pale-skinned, soft-spoken man whose face appears to resemble that of a mask, not unlike Michael Jackson.

Better still, the part of Teddy is played by none other than Donald Glover himself under heavy prosthetics, his ambiguous yet unsettling performance crucial to the episode's generally offputting tenor.

Counter to the more comedy-centric tone of most Atlanta episodes, Teddy Perkins was a slow-burn thriller culminating in violence and death, with an outcome grim enough that audiences may simply end up laughing as a defense mechanism.

Love it or hate it, there's no chance you'll ever forget it.
