10 X-Files Episodes That Should Have Been Horror Movies

1. Familiar

The latest - and undoubtedly creepiest - addition to the world of The X-Files is certainly the one most deserving of its own movie.

'Familiar' sees our favourite agents investigating a rather gruesome child murder in the town of Eastwood. The local authorities rule the cause of death as an animal attack, but upon investigating the body, Scully concludes that it was committed by human hands. This immediately creates a frenzy amongst the locals who cannot believe such a thing would happen in their quaint little town.

In typical X-Files fashion though, all is not as it seems.

It turns out that there is something lurking in the woods, an unknown creature that takes the form of children's television characters in order to gain its victim trust. The most horrifying of which is Mr Chuckle Teeth.

Whilst us viewers know what's really going on, the town-folk begin a witch-hunt, targeting registered sex-offenders, resulting in an attempted lynching. It's this extra dimension that thrusts 'Familiar' into much darker territory, exploring themes like public hysteria, child mortality and how quickly civility can crumble when faced with such a horrific incident.

So come on guys, give this one the movie it truly deserves!
