11 Annoying Mistakes You Never Noticed In Game Of Thrones
10. Drogo Melts Gold Quickly
When Khal Drogo prepares to give Viserys his golden crown, the gold melts extraordinarily quickly. It takes mere seconds for the golden medallions to turn molten when realistically it would have taken a lot longer.
Surely a more apt way to do away with Viserys would have been to simply stab him? We know that Drogo was only giving Viserys what he had long sought, and in doing so presented one of the most gruesome death scenes to date, but it wasn't scientifically accurate. That said, I'm not entirely sure that Drogo or his Khalasar even know what science is, so we may be able to forgive him for that mistake.
The producers on the other hand should have known better. Even if we saw Drogo melting the gold before the scene turned to something else and returned later, this would have been more plausible than the medallions melting in seconds. When looking at the science it appears that it would be entirely impossible to melt gold on a cooking fire anyway.
Pure gold has a melting point of 1945 degrees Fahrenheit, and a cooking fire reaches nowhere near this temperature. If Viserys really wanted his golden crown, maybe he could have just been impaled on one or something to that effect. It would have been a lot more plausible.
