3. The Doctor's Wife

Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith Doctor Who Series 5
BBC

If there is any universal rule in these crazy times, it's that Neil Gaiman can do no wrong. So when he came on to write an episode of Doctor Who, Whovians everywhere hooped and hollered in celebration. And the episode in question - The Doctor's Wife - does not disappoint.

The Doctor answers a distress call from what seems to be an old Time Lord buddy of his, from outside of the universe. Not five minutes into landing on the only mass of rock in this vast emptiness, the TARDIS completely shuts down. Turns out it's been downloaded into the mind of a woman, at the behest of the living eldritch miasma controlling the space rock "House" (played by Michael Sheen- because if it's Neil Gaiman, you can bet that Michael Sheen will show up eventually), so that he can devour the Doctor like he did with the other Time Lords he lured here. When he learns that no more Time Lords will be coming, he decides to take the now empty TARDIS and head off to the universe.
