11. Eric McCormack

First up on our list of the Doctor's self proclaimed celebrity fanatics is Eric McCormack who is probably - well, undoubtedly - best known for his portrayal of Will Truman in the long running NBC sitcom Will & Grace. Since then he's steered away from comedy to tackle the crime genre in the ABC series Perception in which he stars as its protagonist Dr. Daniel J. Pierce, a neuropsychiatrist whose interests and sciency-wciency wired brain would no doubt make him a good match for the Doctor. This isn't a list of potential crossovers, though, and it's actually Daniel's real life alter ego who likes the partake in the Time Lord's on screen adventures. And as an extra piece of timey-wimey related trivia (it is nearly Christmas, after all), John Barrowman, who of course plays Captain Jack Harkness in Doctor Who and its spin off Torchwood, was originally considered for the lead role in Will & Grace. Something tells us Eric is particularly glad that didn't work out, although John didn't fair too unfavourably from the rejection either.
