11 Great TV Shows Starring The Cast Of The Big Bang Theory

2. Johnny Galecki (Leonard) - Roseanne

The Flight Attendant
ABC

In The Big Bang Theory, Johnny Galecki plays Leonard Hoftstadter - a polite milquetoast who keeps having trouble with women. Even before Galecki auditioned, the showrunners over TBBT knew he was perfect for Leonard since he played a similar character in Roseanne. In Season 4, Galecki debuted as David Healy - the titular character's son-in-law, who finds himself being constantly dominated by his partner, Darlene.

At first, Galecki's character didn't seem particularly important. (He didn't even have a consistent name since he was originally called 'Kevin!') But as audiences warmed to David, he became a regular until the end of the show. Galecki reprised the role in the spin-off, The Conners, and returned for the Roseanne revival - although he only appeared for one episode since he was busy with The Big Bang Theory at the time.

Even though the comic genius of Roseanne Barr and John Goodman helped define the show, that shouldn't take away from the talents of the rest of the cast, including Galecki. His performance is so endearing and funny, it's no surprise he was sought out for Leonard.
