10. Simon Helberg (Howard) - Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip revolved around the chaotic behind-the-scenes ordeals that a sketch show had to endure on a daily basis. Despite being hilarious and well-written, the premise was too similar to 30 Rock, which had way higher ratings. As a result, it was cancelled after only one season, despite receiving critical acclaim.
It's a huge shame Studio 60 was canned preemptively since it had so many amazing talents attached, including Matthew Perry, Bradley Whitford, Amanda Peet, and of course Simon Helberg. Since Helberg is portraying a sketch actor, he has plenty of opportunity to showcase his range, especially with his impersonation skills. Although he does excellent impressions of Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise, his Nicolas Cage skit is the most memorable.
Considering Helberg was unknown at the time, it's pretty impressive that he can stand his own against other Hollywood stars like Sarah Paulson and Rob Reiner. Even though everyone in Studio 60 is consistent, the viewer is always looking forward to an appearance from Helberg, curious to see what crazy character he's going to pull out next.
