10. Frank Underwood's Missed Call House Of Cards ('Chapter 13')
The Netflix Original Series 'House of Cards' ended an intriguing first season of cutthroat Washington skulduggery on a good old-fashioned cut-to-black cliffhanger. Spacey's character, Frank Underwood, has just been offered the nomination for the Vice Presidency. As it turns out, this was his goal from the beginning, although that was never really clear up to this point. He's been wading his way through the bile and filth of congress to weasel his way into the President's trust, and he's gotten there by lying, threatening, defaming, and downright murdering. No longer on Underwood's meal ticket, shamed reporter Zoe Barnes is edging closer to uncovering the whole conspiracy with her colleagues at Slugline.com; they're about to blow the lid off the apparent suicide of Peter Russo, Underwood's hapless pawn in the proceedings. Yet oblivious to the oncoming storm, Frank goes for a late night jog with his wife, and misses a call from his aide Doug Stamper warning him about Barnes and her story. The cut sets up a great lead-in to season two, making us prepare for considerable fallout and a whole lot more covering up.
