11 Iconic TV Shows That Should NEVER Be Revived

Fleabag Season 2

You can boil down the reason a lot of the entries on this list shouldn't return down to the ending of the original run being perfect, and the same is true about Phoebe-Waller Bridge's Fleabag but in a markedly different way.

While the end of Season 2 does finish with the titular character finally at peace, her story could theoretically continue. In fact, it's guaranteed to, but the issue is that the finale makes it clear that she can no longer share it with an audience.

The framing of the show constantly breaks the fourth wall, as Waller-Bridge's character addresses the audience directly. In the first season it's nothing more than a cool filmmaking gimmick, but it actually becomes part of the narrative in Season 2.

During those episodes, characters begin to call her out on "disappearing" when she acknowledges the camera. It's never explicitly stated, but it's clear that this relationship is something she's using as a coping mechanism, and the series ends with her waving goodbye to the audience.

It's a powerful way to close out a story, and going back in any form would undo the impact of that split between character and the viewer.
