It sometimes feels as though a live-action adaptation of the Teen Titans has been in the works for ages now, but - thanks to the efforts of Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti - one is finally nearing completion.

Based on the same sidekick-centric team from DC's library, Titans centres around Robin, Starfire, Raven and Beast Boy as they battle other-worldly threats, supervillains, and attempt to form a unit to rival the Justice League's. It's all about these heroes finding their place in the world, and with a strong core four members already in place, it's clear that it's a group readymade for expansion.

While the show will undoubtedly look to have less in common with the 2003 Titans than its 2010 successor, Young Justice, it's equally true that the Titans already have a massive cult following in place, owed in part to that original animated series. Fans have high hopes for the show, and with it being the first to premiere on DC's own streaming service, it has a lot of stress to bear, even if the reaction so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

Regardless, the promo image of Brenton Thwaites' Dick Grayson is most definitely the best-looking live action Robin we've seen (not that there's much competition in that area), and if Titans has the substance to match the style, then we could be in for something really special come its release.
