This series served as a sequel to Sam Raimi’s trilogy of Evil Dead films and sees Bruce Campbell reprise his iconic role as Ash Williams - the unhinged, chainsaw-armed, shotgun-wielding, reluctant hero of the movies.

30 years on from the events of Evil Dead II (it’s unclear if Army of the Dead took place in this timeline), an ageing Ash is working in a backwater town as a shelf stacker in a DIY store. Ash is something of a waster, happy to while away his days working his dead-end job and spending his evenings drinking and picking up women in the local bars.

That is until an inebriated Ash reads from the cursed book, the Necronomicon, and unleashes the Evil Dead once again.

The show introduced two sidekicks for Ash: Pablo (Ray Santiago) and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo). The latter in particular is a treat; a no-nonsense badass who gets just as many good lines as Ash.

It might sound strange to describe a show that takes such delight in decapitations as charming, but it’s accurate. Ash vs Evil Dead ran for three seasons and is a fun watch throughout. More gross than scary (it has its moments though), but for fans of Evil Dead and schlocky horror in general, this won’t disappoint.
