11 Times Star Trek The Next Generation DID Have Conflict

2. That Time Laforge Told Off Some Engineer

Arsenal of Freedom introduced a trope The Next Generation used a couple of times: that of a more experienced but less talented officer trying to wrest control from the spunky greenhorn who was placed in command in a crisis.

Wesley had this same problem in Pen Pals when a member of his team didn’t take his orders seriously. Troi dealt with it in Disaster where a certain Ensign Ro insisted on ditching half the crew to save the saucer section from a core breach. Finally, Data had to tell a snippy underling to just "do it!" in Redemption after his fitness to command was questioned repeatedly.

But if you want the best example of full blown hostility among the crew, Geordi LaForge telling Engineer Gumby #10 to step off while the Enterprise is attacked by the Echo-Papa 607 is it.
