11 TV Shows That Deserved Another Season

5. Firefly

Fox

And now for the compulsory entry on any list of tragically cancelled shows: Firefly. The second Joss Whedon show on this list, Firefly was cancelled after only one season, a season which aired at odd times and out of order because it seems no one at Fox had any interest in keeping the show alive.

The space-western (yes, it's a real genre) was loved for its combination of action sequences and well developed characters, as well as its incredibly richly drawn world. The first season set up so many compelling mysteries and storylines that fans were understandably furious when it was dropped in 2002.

Fortunately, a hardy band of excellent nerds, who called themselves Browncoats in reference to the Independence fighters in the show, would not let the franchise die. In addition to comics and games, in 2005 we got Serenity, a feature length film which wrapped up the many dangling threads left at the end of the show. Thank you, persistent internet warriors.

Brydie is an Australian writer and performer living in London and she complains exactly the same amount about the weather as every other Australian living in London. Yes, that is her natural lip colour, no, she will not be taking any further questions at this time.
