1. Dexter

Perhaps one of the most shocking renewals in TV history, it was recently revealed that the long-running (and long-finished) Dexter would be revived as a 10-episode limited series.

The show originally aired on Showtime from 2006 until 2013 and followed the escapades of Michael C. Hall's forensic technician who lived a double life as a vigilante serial killer, killing murderers who escaped justice. It remained popular throughout its entire run, with viewing figures increasing over time - so much so that some of the later seasons brought in record-breaking highs for the premium channel.

Though the show had something of an esteemed reputation among critics, its eighth and final season is notorious for being one of its worst, with some even calling it one of the worst final seasons of all time. This unexpected revival gives it a chance to right that wrong and go out an a note more in-line with the show's overarchingly high standard.
