11 Wild Theories About Doctor Who Series 8

1. Gallifrey Is In The Nethersphere €“ Episode 11/12

The one piece of the puzzle that is the finale which still doesn€™t quite fit is Missy. Or to use her full title: the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere. While the Nethersphere may just sound something generally ominous and Steven Moffat-y, the term does exist in the context of mythology with definitions of it relating to external dimensions and a descent into the underworld. That first one sounds familiar, doesn€™t it. So judging by the connotations of Nether Sphere and the titles of Episodes 11 and 12 being in the same ballpark as those connotations, this throws out two theories: The first is that the gates of hell itself are about to open. Doctor Who has dabbled in religious mythology before with the Beast in Series 2 so giving the Doctor Who universe a location that inspired hell and the underworld in human mythology isn€™t entirely out of the question. The second is that the Nethersphere is a lost dimension guarded by Missy€™s species and is where Gallifrey was sent at the end of The Day Of The Doctor. The decision to restore Gallifrey was a massive part of the 50th Anniversary and marked a huge turning point in the Doctor€™s life so it has to come up sooner or later. Whether or not we€™ll be seeing Gallifrey again this series remains to be seen but the Doctor€™s search might be a lot shorter than expected. Got any wild Series 8 theories you want to share with us?
