1. Gallifrey Is In The Nethersphere Episode 11/12
The one piece of the puzzle that is the finale which still doesnt quite fit is Missy. Or to use her full title: the Gatekeeper of the Nethersphere. While the Nethersphere may just sound something generally ominous and Steven Moffat-y, the term does exist in the context of mythology with definitions of it relating to external dimensions and a descent into the underworld. That first one sounds familiar, doesnt it. So judging by the connotations of Nether Sphere and the titles of Episodes 11 and 12 being in the same ballpark as those connotations, this throws out two theories: The first is that the gates of hell itself are about to open. Doctor Who has dabbled in religious mythology before with the Beast in Series 2 so giving the Doctor Who universe a location that inspired hell and the underworld in human mythology isnt entirely out of the question. The second is that the Nethersphere is a lost dimension guarded by Missys species and is where Gallifrey was sent at the end of The Day Of The Doctor. The decision to restore Gallifrey was a massive part of the 50th Anniversary and marked a huge turning point in the Doctors life so it has to come up sooner or later. Whether or not well be seeing Gallifrey again this series remains to be seen but the Doctors search might be a lot shorter than expected. Got any wild Series 8 theories you want to share with us?
