Isaiah Washington had it good. During the first three seasons of Grey's Anatomy, he was one of the central characters on the show, Dr. Preston Burke. But all was not well on the set of Grey's Anatomy. Washington reportedly had several on-set altercations with co-star T.R. Knight, who is gay. Things came to a head in 2006 when Washington reportedly used an anti-gay slur against Knight on set. And, to make matters worse, Knight used the slur again during an argument with co-star Patrick Dempsey at the 2006 Golden Globe Awards. The fall-out was massive. Washington was denounced by LGBT rights organizations and, after massive controversy in the media, Washington was fired from Grey's Anatomy, proving what your mother always told you: if you don't have anything good to say, you shouldn't say anything at all. To everyone's surprise, though in 2014 Washington guest starred on an episode of Grey's Anatomy commemorating the departure of his former on-screen love interest portrayed by Sandra Oh.
