Since regenerating into Matt Smith in early 2010, David Tennant's Tenth Doctor has appeared in so many Doctor Who comics, video games, and audio dramas (plus a starring role in the 50th) that it feels like he never truly left the show.

Given his willingness to come back for all those expanded media projects over the years, it isn't a surprise that he's also keen to return in an onscreen capacity, stating in a 2019 interview that he'd love to see a 60th anniversary special that united him with Whittaker, Capaldi, Smith, and Eccleston's Doctors.

In a more recent 2021 interview, he added "anything is possible - you should never say never to anything".

With the Tenth Doctor's popularity being as high as it is, and Tennant's old pal RTD returning to spearhead Doctor Who in 2023, it almost feels inevitable that we'll see Tennant don the Converse and the brown coat within the next few years.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
