12 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Trek
9. Martin Landau
It’s hard to imagine anyone but the late Leneord Nimoy as the Vulcan science officer, Spock. But, according to rumor Martin Landau, star of Mission: Impossible was offered the role. Landau claimed in interviews he turned down the role because he couldn’t play an unemotional character.
There was no bad blood between the two actors, though. When Nimoy died in 2015, Landau described him as “a mensch!” He also said that Nimoy, who he called Lenny, was the first person he called when he made it to Hollywood.
Another interesting actor considered for the role was Michael Dunn. Due to medical dwarfism, Dunn stood at a little under four feet tall. Dunn was later cast as the character Alexander in the episode titled Plato's Stepchildren.
