12 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Trek

Speaking of Star Trek movies, Leonard Nimoy directed a few of those. Specifically, he directed Star Trek: III The Search For Spock, which, of course, features a Klingon antagonist named Kruge. Nimoy wanted to cast Edward James Olmos as Kruge but the role ended up going to Christorpher Lloyd.

That wasn’t the only character that Olmos lost out on though. Before Patrick Stewart, Olmos was offered the part of Jean Luc Picard. He couldn't accept the part because of other commitments. And, lucky for him he ended up with a promotion. A few years later Olmos played the role of Admiral Adama on the Syfy Channel's revival of the classic tv show Battlestar Galactica.

Interestingly, Battlestar was run by Deep Space Nine alum, Ronald D. Moore.
