12 Actors You Didn't Know Were Almost Cast In Star Trek

Had it not been for Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade, famed Scottish actor Sean Connery would have appeared in Star Trek. William Shatner, director of Star Trek V: The… not very good one, wanted to cast Connery as the Vulcan Sybok.

Thankfully, Connery had already committed to the third installment in the Indiana Jones franchise so was unable to besmirch his good name. Well, until he did it later with The Avengers.

One last twist to this story, though. Sybok was eventually played by stage actor, Laurence Luckinbill. And, according to Luckinbill there was one final actor vying for the role. You might know his name- Leonard Nimoy.

That's right, apparently Nimoy, who was still playing Spock, wanted to play Sybok as well. Luckinbill also claimed that Nimoy was not happy about being passed over and barely spoke to him on set.

Fascinating.
