12 Best British Sitcoms Of All Time

3. Peep Show

British Sitcoms
Channel 4

Peep Show is one of the most experimental comedies in existence, taking the tried and tested sitcom formula and turning it on its head. This was something totally different, and it was very refreshing to see.

Jumping on the wagon of awkward comedy after the success of The Office, we were introduced to Mark and Jeremy played, respectively, by much-beloved comedy duo David Mitchell and Robert Webb. Over their nine seasons we saw some of the most cringe-worthy moments in comedy, and to add to how awkward it really was we were right there in the centre of it due to the show's first person perspective.

To say that it's iconic is an understatement. Whenever someone pitches something as “first-person point of view” it’s difficult to not respond with “Like Peep Show?” It really was a stepping stone for British comedy, and guess what? Super Hans is performing at festivals now, so it’s really a win-win for everyone.
