Another episode in the series dealing with paranoia, politics, and other subversive, high concept story themes, Clash presents the idealistic and at times naive Captain Marvel, whose alter ego is literal child Billy Batson, at odds with Superman, after he unwittingly endorses Lex Luthor to the press after helping Superman save a passenger plane, subsequently outshining him.

When his words are transformed by the press into a full-fledged endorsement of Luthor's political campaign, Captain Marvel's youthful idealism and optimism comes into conflict with the League's approach to complex politics, as well as Superman's firm belief that Luthor is always up to no good, despite his apparent change of heart.

It all comes to a head when Superman is convinced Luthor is hiding a bomb under a charitable land development, and he and Captain Marvel have a super-powered clash ending in its destruction.

In the end, Superman was manipulated by Luthor's hidden agenda, and his paranoia made him forget the values the League was built on. With Captain Marvel resigning from the League, ashamed of their actions, it's made clear that even the seemingly untouchable beacon of good, The Justice League, isn't immune to manipulation.
