3. Journey Into Mystery (Loki - Ep 5) - 9.0

In many ways, this episode was given the absolute perfect title. Taken from the popular running Marvel comic series, it encompasses everything going on in the episode, from Loki’s initial confusion as to being faced with four Variants of himself in the Void, to Sylvie’s enchantment of Alioth.

Even in a series that was in itself mysterious and strange, this chapter stood out. It took the cliffhanger from the previous episode and ran with it into something unlike anything else in the history, and potentially the future of the franchise.

Alternatively however, this episode could have easily taken the title of the first episode, ‘Glorious Purpose’. Not just because of Classic Loki delivering the line as he sacrificed himself to Alioth, but for Loki and Sylvie working together to bring down the TVA for the free will of the entire universe.

None of this would have been quite as special however, had it not taken place inside the Void. The vast wasteland inspired in part by the Teletubbies held countless Easter eggs, the potential for Kid Loki and other multiversal characters, Alioth, and the Citadel at the End of Time, and was a ridiculously creepy potential gamechanger. Let’s be honest, this episode would have received rave reviews if for nothing but making the Thanos-copter MCU canon.
