12 Brilliant Ways TV Characters Were Brought Back From The Dead

2. Buffy Summers €“ Buffy The Vampire Slayer

In a previous article, we voted Buffy's death and subsequent resurrection in the season one finale the 5th most ridiculous way a character was brought back from the dead. Her recovery from a bout of drowning was a tad silly, but fortunately her second revival, following her fatal confrontation with Glory at the end of season five, was handled far better. Like Dean Winchester, Buffy is forced to climb out of her own grave when Willow's spell brought her back from the dead at the start of season six. Only it's not all hugs and smiles for the slayer; during the course of the season we discovered that Buffy had been ripped out of Heaven. How could an Earth, where she is forced to fight vampires and demons week on week, be anything but Hell to Buffy after that? The consequences of Buffy's resurrection are immense. Not only is the slayer traumatised by her return (it takes an entire season for her to find her purpose again), but poor Willow goes off the deep end after realising what her magic has done and the nature of Buffy's return gives the First Evil the footing it needs to destroy the world. Returning from the dead isn't a quick fix for Buffy The Vampire Slayer: the ramifications run through the rest of the show. All 44 episodes of it.
