12 Cartoons You Definitely Watched In The 90s

3. Hey Arnold

€œMove it Football-head.€ Remember that? Of course you do, it€™s from Hey Arnold. Originally hitting the small screen in €™96, Hey Arnold quickly became one of the most popular cartoons on TV. It wasn€™t your normal kind of kids cartoon though; Hey Arnold was grounded in the everyday reality of a 9-year-old fourth grader in America €“ a universal theme. Covering all the bases from funny to depressing, Hey Arnold was a grown up show for a maturing audience. It dealt with schoolyard crushes (mainly Helga teasing poor Arnold because she actually really liked him €“ bless her wee heart), poverty, loneliness, friendship and a social conscience. Hey Arnold is the story of a normal kid who wants to see the good in everything. He lives with his grandparents and spends most of his time hanging out with his friend Gerald. While it might not have the action or adventure elements of the other cartoons, Hey Arnold€™s charm was in the stories that its audience could relate too. It wasn€™t always serious though; it was still for kids €“ it was still funny.
