12 Darkest South Park Moments Ever

10. The Inconvenience Of School Shootings

Dead Kids (Season 22, Episode 1)

With a title as blunt as Dead Kids, it should be unsurprising that the plot of this episode takes a dark turn from the get-go. The Boys and their class are in the middle of maths when gun fire and chaos sound from the corridor. They continue to learn unperturbed even when a SWAT shooter bursts into the class.

Stan’s mother, Sharon Marsh rushes to the school upon hearing the news, teary and panicked. Stan and those around him appear confused and embarrassed by her outburst. Even Sharon’s husband, Randy, is nonchalant at the news. He doesn’t understand the big deal as Stan was neither the shooter nor a casualty. He deduces it is his wife’s time of the month.

Sharon gathers the parents, but they too are nonplussed. Craig’s mom steers the conversation towards the unsafe playground equipment, which is also an eyesore. Sharon explodes at the unreasonable comparison made between child murder and park upgrades.

Rather than winning everybody around to her valid concern, by the end of the episode Sharon gets a phone call that Stan has been shot, however, she accepts “it’s not the end of the world”.
